How Long Does It Take To Build Muscle
A question that is often asked by people who want to build lean muscle is “How long does it take to build muscle?”
Unfortunately, the answer to this question varies per individual. Some people will gain muscles faster compared to others. Most of the time, the length of time to build muscle is influenced by genetics. In these cases, you need to make adjustments to your workouts and diet in order to see significant muscle gains. For example, hardgainers will need to do more strength training exercises AND add more protein to their diet. Those who are muscular right won’t have any difficulties gaining muscle. On the other hand, those who tend to accumulate fats will need to do cardio exercises along with their muscle building regimen.
On average, you should expect to see some results in 2 weeks of training, but again, there are certain factors which will determine how fast or how slow you will build muscle.
Factors Affecting How Long Does It Take to Build Muscle
How long does it take to build muscle? This is not a very easy question to answer, considering the fact that there are a number of factors that can affect each individual’s capability to build muscle.
The primary factor that can affect muscle building is genetics. Some individuals have it in their genes to build muscles easily. Most, however, need to struggle to achieve any significant muscle gains. It can be due to a slow metabolism in some. Others tend to accumulate more fat rather than build muscle.
Another factor that can affect your duration of building muscle is your body type. Obviously, muscular body types tend to build muscles faster compared to those who are skinny and who store up fats.
Factors that can be controlled include diet. To build muscle, you need to eat more proteins. Another factor wherein you can make adjustments is your physical fitness regimen. Ask your trainer on the best exercises that are suited for your body.
How Long Does It Take to Build Muscle: Strive to be Strong
To answer the question “How long does it take to build muscle?”, you need to take a long hard look at the workout routine that you are doing at present. It is not enough that you want to build muscle. What is most important is that you want to become strong.
This is something that only a few physical fitness trainers have espoused on. Rather than focus on the muscle building itself, you need to change your goal to increasing your strength. As your muscles become stronger through the heavy weights that you lift and the exercises that you perform, muscle bulk up will occur simultaneously. This is basically a form of body adaptation.
If you strive for muscle strength, you stand to see muscle growth as soon as 2 weeks. Make sure that you observe a strength training regimen and eat the right foods.
Increasing Stress Levels
Obviously, the answer to this is that each individual will develop muscles faster or slower than others. If you want to build your muscles up faster than the rate that it is going now, you might want to increase the stress levels of your workout.
What exactly does “stress” mean? This means the amount of force or resistance that you apply on certain group of muscles.
A very good way to increase stress levels is through incremental resistance training. Here, you challenge your muscles by gradually increasing the weights that you are lifting. For incremental resistance training to be more effective, you should already start at a weight that is challenging to you. Let’s say that lifting 100 pounds is a bit difficult for you. Start at this weight and try to do 5-6 repetitions. As you progress, you will observe that it has become easier for you to lift 100 pounds. You then move up 50 or another 100 pounds. Do as many reps as you can until you can no longer lift it. This is what increasing stress levels is all about. Also, this method prevents your muscles from adapting to a fixed load. Increase your load and you increase your muscle bulk up.
Let increasing your stress levels help you in discovering the answer to “How long does it take to build muscle?”
